Get Ready for Barbecue July 29th at the Bruce House!
The Three Village Community Trust invites the community to its 4th Annual Chicken Hill Barbeque, Saturday, July 29th from 4 to 7 p.m., on the grounds of the Setauket Rubber Factory Workers Houses behind the Bruce House, 148 Main Street. With chicken, ribs, and all the fixins' catered by Bagel Express, the Barbeque will be the perfect way to spend the afternoon with your family, friends, and neighbors.
You'll have an opportunity to visit the historic Worker Houses, which are among the few remaining buildings from the Chicken Hill community, the focus of the Three Village Historical Society's award-winning Chicken Hill Exhibit. Many members of the "lost" Chicken Hill community worked at the Setauket Rubber Factory in the late 19th century and lived in these Worker Houses, which the Trust preserved and is now restoring for 21st century use while retaining their historic character.
