Work at the Hawkins House Continues!
We’re getting closer and closer to finishing the interior work at the Hawkins House in Stony Brook. This historic home has been undergoing extensive restoration for many years. The work has included: removal of the exterior siding/shingles and replacement, a new upgraded electrical system, a new wood shingle roof, extensive wall board and ceiling repair, etc.
Below is a photo of the new cabinets being prepared for the kitchen:

The Greenway has a new amenity!
The Trust has partnered with Scouting America for many years on a variety of projects to benefit your Greenway experience. The latest addition to the trail is a Bike Repair Station located at the Setauket Trailhead. Inflate your tires, adjust your brakes, make minor repairs – the bike stand does it all! A big Thank You to Holden Cone, Eagle Scout candidate.

Demonstrating the Dynamics of Maria’s No Mow May
The international movement of No Mow May centers on having people – and institutions – reevaluate their relationship to lawn and yard care. Do you really need to use herbicides, insecticides, or even irrigation? Can you reduce the amount of lawn area in favor of gardens with native species? The Trust, under the guidance of Emily Riley, has installed Long Island native plants at the Bruce House Headquarters. Less lawn, more nature!
