In 2022, The Three Village Community Trust was challenged to raise donations to match a $50,000 Grant obtained by then New York State Assemblyman Steven Englebright. The Trust’s Board accepted the challenge and launched the Maria Hoffman $50,000 Challenge Grant. In its twentieth year of “Protecting the Places You Love,” the Trust’s properties and stewardship agreements include: The Setauket to Port Jefferson Station Greenway, Patriots Rock, The Immigrant Factory Worker Houses, the Bruce House, the Hawkins Homestead, the Smith/deZafra House, the Steven D. Matthews Preserve and the Tyler House.

The beloved Maria Hoffman was a strong supporter of the Three Village Community Trust and its mission to “Protect the Places We Love.” Maria enjoyed living next to the Trust’s headquarters and Immigrant Factory Houses and often commented on how she loved the property. Maria was involved in so many aspects of our community – historical preservation, environmental issues, open space preservation, environmental protection – there was no issue too large or small that Maria wasn’t part of, always with a smile on her face. Anyone who enjoys West Meadow Beach, the Greenway, and so many of our cultural, historical and art institutions needs to give thanks to Maria’s legacy.

The Trust is proud to announce the successful completion of the $50,000 Matching Challenge! The Trust reached the $50,000 goal and more, in one year! Over $60,000 was contributed.

On Friday, October 13th, the Trust held a celebration to say thank you to its members, and the entire Three Village community that gave so generously to honor the memory of Maria.

The money raised will go to continue the Trust’s mission of “Protecting the Places You Love.”

The Trust is an all-volunteer, not-for-profit organization.
