The Three Village Community Trust’s Tyler Homestead is the home for this year’s wet paint festival.

Gallery North has just announced its 20th Annual Wet Paint Festival, a unique two-day outdoor art festival on Saturday, June 1st and Sunday, June 2nd. With over 40 participating artists, visitors can observe painters working at their easels in the beautiful outdoor setting of Setauket’s historic Main Street. There will also be opportunities to participate in tours focused on Long Island history, native flora and fauna, and the creative process of artists.

AND … wait for it …. The Wet Paint Festival, for the first time, will be held on a Trust property – THE TYLER HOMESTEAD at 97 Main Street in Setauket. We are thrilled to be the host of this wonderful event! The festival runs from 10am to 4pm each day and is FREE.
The Tyler Homestead is located is located in the heart of Setauket’s historic Main Street. The home dates back to the mid-1700’s and was built with trees hewed from the surrounding area. It is widely recognized that the Tyler House is one of the finest examples of a historic American farmhouse. The home was an important acquisition for the Trust not only because of its unique history, but because Patriots Rock Historic Site is part of the 3 acre property! The Trust’s mission is “Protecting the Places You Love!”

As the center of this year’s festival, the Tyler Homestead will serve as the hub for artists as they explore and paint the nearby landmarks – the Frank Melville Memorial Park, Patriot’s Rock Historic Site, the Caroline Church, the Setauket Green, the Emma Clark Library and the three Immigrant Factory Worker Houses. These sites, and more, will provide an ideal setting for the visitors to watch plein air painters at work.
And, there will be a lot more going on during the two days! There will be tours of Patriot’s Rock and opportunities to learn of the special role that Setauket played during the American Revolution. Local naturalists from the Sweetbriar Nature Center will provide lectures on the wildlife of the surrounding area. Regional artists Doug Reina and Christine D’Addario will lead guided tours on plein air painting. Gallery North will also team up with WUSB 90.1  fm/107.3 fm Stony Brook, NY to present live musical performances each day. And, to enhance the festival experience, visitors can purchase food from LevelUp Kitchen to enjoy a delicious picnic in an idyllic setting.

After the Festival, all participating artists will have their works featured in a special exhibition at the Reboli Center for Art and History in Stony Brook Village from June 25 to July 7. The exhibition will be free and open to the public.
